Marc Meketon

mmeketonDr. Marc Meketon is a Vice-President in Oliver Wyman’s MultiModal practice, a unit of the global Surface Transportation Group.  He specializes in the development of software applications for railway planning, optimization of transportation plans, and modeling of railway and other transportation systems.  Marc has more than 27 years of industrial experience, with over 18 years in the transportation industry.  He led the operations research activities of Conrail for several years, managed a similar group at US Airways, and managed airline fleet assignment research and development at Bell Laboratories.  For many projects, he combines detailed knowledge of the transportation industry with state-of-the-art skills in operations research and practical software engineering experience.  Marc’s transportation related work prior to Oliver Wyman includes leading the development of an airline scheduling system that saved his airline clients over $20 million per year, building train and crew scheduling models and locomotive assignment models, and leading the development activities  for a new generation of airline revenue management tools.  He has served on the board of the Railroad Applications Special Interest Group and the Aviation Applications Group of INFORMS.  He holds one patent.  In 2003, he was co-awarded the Franz Edelman Prize for Achievement in Operations Research and Management Science.  Dr. Meketon has a B.S. (with honors) in Mathematics from Villanova University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Operations Research from Cornell University.
